Trace & Copy Flashcards: Pre-Writing Strokes, ABCs & CVC Words

Print once, laminate, and practice all year. 84 reusable 4" square flashcards that take kids from their first lines to writing real words, designed by an occupational therapist.

Each card has a big Trace it model and a Write it box right next to it. With a dry-erase marker, kids trace, write it on their own, wipe it off and go again, so one set lasts through hundreds of practice rounds.

4 color-coded sets that build on each other

• Pre-writing strokes (12 cards): vertical, horizontal, circle, cross, diagonals, square, X and triangle in developmental order, plus bridge curve, zigzag and wave
• Uppercase A–Z (26 cards): one big letter per card on three-line handwriting guides
• Lowercase a–z (26 cards): each card is tagged as a tall, small or tail letter to build letter-size awareness
• Kindergarten CVC words (20 cards): easy short-vowel words with a picture on every card (cat, hat, map, pen, pig, dog, sun, bug and more), 4 words for each short vowel

Built-in OT supports

• "Follow the green": numbered green start circles and simple arrows show exactly where to start, which stroke comes first and which way to go
• A verbal cue on every card ("Slant down, slant down, across") for kids to say out loud while they write
• Before You Write page: a 2-minute hand warm-up, a seating and grip setup checklist, and a kid-friendly self-check
• Skill tracker page: mark each card as traced, written next to the model, or written from memory, which is handy for progress notes and IEP data
• Real flashcard format: 4" square cards, 4 per page with cut lines, and a green punch circle so you can clip the set on a binder ring
